Common ID Errors

The replacement fee for damaged cards is $20.00. This fee is payable at the time of issuance of your new card. This fee will be waived if your VCUCard is considered within normal wear and tear guidelines.

Magstripe Error

A Magstripe Error means you were denied a swipe permission.

Reasons for a Magstripe Error

  • The account you are trying to access does not have any funds or is in arrears - please make a deposit
  • Your VCUCard has been reported lost or stolen - please replace it
  • You were denied access to a student activity because you are not a currently enrolled student or did not pay the student activity fee for the current semester

Defective Prox

A defective prox means your VCUCard is unresponsive when trying to access a building or location.

Reasons for a defective prox:

  • Your VCUCard is not in the system you are trying to access - please contact whomever handles access for that location
  • You have an outdated VCUCard with an incompatible prox number - please replace it
  • Your VCUCard is damaged - please replace it
  • Your VCUCard was kept too close to another prox or credit card - please replace it
  • You are trying to use a VCUCard you previously lost - please replace it
